Dentistry
Dentistry is a branch of medicine that is involved in the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders and conditions of the oral cavity, commonly in the dentition but also the oral mucosa, and of adjacent and related structures and tissues, particularly in the maxillofacial (jaw and facial) area. The objectives of the department of Dentistry is to provide patient-centered quality dental care, and to provide leadership in dental education. The department is running a general OPD daily from 9am to 5pm. Dental professionals of the department provide all kinds of specialty dental treatment to the masses. Since its establishment the department has been involved in teaching of undergraduate medical student’s in dentistry. The students are taught the basic principles of dental care through lectures, tutorials, discussions and clinical training. The department of dental has been actively involved in patient’s dental care and gum diseases. The department consists of fully pledged dental equipment and dental chair. Majority of dental treatments are carried out to prevent oral diseases.
Diabetologist
Diabetology is the branch of medicine that deals with the study, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diabetes mellitus.
Gastroenterology
The department of Gastroenterology commenced in December 2005. Currently, Dr. Pankaj Singh, MD, DM (Gastro) from Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi, is a visiting Consultant to our hospital. He visits once in two months for all types of procedures and treatment.
General Surgery
Within the Department of General Surgery, we undertake various types of surgeries and surgical procedures, including Oncosurgery, laproscopic surgery, etc. Dr. Ramesh Saharia (MS) is our Consultant Surgeon for the general surgery department.
Internal Medicine
SSHRI has everyday evening OPD with a full-time visiting Internal Medicine Consultant, MD, Medicine. Various senior consultants of Dibrugarh visit our Hospital on a daily basis.
Nephrology
Our +ve Unit is set up for 5 simultaneous dialysis treatments, and our -ve Unit is set up for 20 simultaneous dialysis treatments, making us one of the largest capacity Dialysis Treatment Centres in the North East. We are a 24x7 centre. A new RO water purification unit has also been established to keep up with the upgraded standards of SSHRI’s Nephrology Department.
Neurology & Neurosurgery
The Department has a state-of-the-art Neurosurgery Operation Theatre, an 18 bedded Stroke & Trauma Care ICU, as well as a Stroke Rehabilitation & Neuro Physiotherapy Unit. The Department operates 24 hours, with full-time Resident doctors and well-trained staff nurses, maintaining a 1:1 patient: staff ratio.
Obstetrics & Gynecology
Srimanta Sankardeva Hospital is the best Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynecology service provider in Dibrugarh. Highly evaluated for quality services, our hospital employs specialized obstetricians and gynecologists to deal with various conditions, including PCOS, fibroids, and prenatal and postnatal services
Oncology & Oncosurgery
The development of Oncology in the North East has been one of the core aspirations in SSHRI’s journey over the years. In June 2004, we started Oncology at our Hospital with technical assistance from the Asian Institute of Oncology, Mumbai. World-renowned Senior Medical Oncologist, Padmashri Prof. Dr. S. H. Advani (Director - Dept. of Medical Oncology, Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai) visited and treated more than 3000 cancer patients from all over Assam and the N.E. Region, at our Hospital.
Currently, Consultant Surgeon Dr. Ramesh Saharia, MS, trained in onco-surgery, is providing full-time treatment and chemotherapy care to patients. Additionally, Senior Medical Oncologists from various prestigious institutions of the country work with us as visiting consultants.
Orthopaedics & Orthopaedic Surgery
We are conducting regular orthopaedic surgeries at our Hospital and have daily OPD in this Department. Our Orthopaedic Department is headed by Dr. Ananta Saikia, MS.

Paediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents.
Radiology
Radiology is a medical specialty that uses imaging techniques to diagnose and treat diseases within the body.
Urology
The Urology department commenced operations in March 2005. Dr. Tridiv Gogoi, M.S., experienced uro-surgeon, is SSHRI’s full time consultant urologist. The department provides treatment and care for patients suffering from various kidney diseases, and Dr. Gogoi regularly conducts OTs for kidney-stones with laser technology (kidney, ureter, bladder), as well as OTs for kidney and prostate related problems.

OPERATION THEATRES
We have 4 Modern Operation Theatres, including 1 Neurosurgical Operation Theatre, & 3 General Operation Theatres for conventional and Laparoscopic surgeries, with Karl-Storz lap. equipment from Germany. We are well equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, accompanied with Centralised Medical Gas Supply System & Central Suction System.
We have a special OT set-up for Orthopaedic Surgeries, equipped with advanced digital surgico 60 H C-Arm with the latest image intensifier system, Pneumatic Drill from Switzerland, and other sophisticated equipment. All kinds of Orthopaedic Surgeries are done here by Senior Orthopaedic Surgeons on a regular basis.
Our Neurosurgery O.T. is well equipped with State-of-the-Art equipment for all types of surgeries related to Brain, Head injuries, & accident & trauma care, and is equipped with a Carl-Zeiss microscope. Our Neurosurgery Department is one of the most experienced and reliable units in the city.
Our Urology O.T. is well equipped for all types of Uro-surgeries.

Neurosurgical ICU
We have a well-equipped state of the art modern Neurosurgical I.C.U. with multiple ventilators, for patients requiring treatment for Accident, Stroke & Head injury. Open 24x7, our Neurosurgical ICU fulfils all criteria of Modern ICU emergency services as per the norms.
CCUs & MICUs
We have advanced intensive care units (ICU) for critically ill patients. We take utmost care to facilitate speedy recovery. Casualties from any medical field are prevented by having life support system and other advanced modalities. ICU is equipped with - Modern Multi-parameter Monitoring System, Ventilator, Infusion pumps, Defibrillator, Centralised Medical Supply and Centralised Suction Unit under the supervision of well-trained Anaesthetists and GNM Nurses available round the clock.
Neonatal ICU
We have an ultra-modern Neonatal ICU (Baby Room) equipped with incubators, monitors, infusion pump CPAP, APNEA monitor, Phototherapy unit with full-time experienced Paediatrician, and well trained GNM nurses, available 24 hours to take care of newborn & unwell infants.
We have a comprehensive OBGYN Intensive Care Unit under a Gynaecologist of our own.
BLOOD BANK
We have a well-equipped state of the art modern Blood Bank for patients requiring Blood transfusion. The patients can avail this facility on 24 hours basis. Our Blood Bank fulfils all criteria of Modern Blood Bank services as per the norms of Drugs & Cosmetics Act & Rules.

1. The Hospital is equipped with an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) facility for safe disposal of waste water. The facility has been in-place and operational since inception, as per approval of Pollution Control Board, Assam
2. SSHRI has 2 Generators to provide 24 x 7 power back-up to the campus in the event of power-cuts.
3. SSHRI comes equipped with a Medical Gas Manifold Room, designated storage areas for emergency stocking of medical gas, and well-trained supervisors to look after the unit.
4. For BMW disposal, we have a tie-up with Assam Medical College Hospital for the use of their incinerator service.
5. Our Hospital has 2 ambulances, with all supporting facilities as per NABH guidelines, available 24x7 for transportation of patients. At least one driver is on stand-by at any given time of the day
a. For transportation of deceased, SSHRI has a tie-up with a local ambulance operator, thereby outsourcing this particular service
6. SSHRI has a mortuary facility in-house.
